Pet Boarding is Based on Nightly Rates

Our boarding services are based on nightly rates. On weekends, drop-offs and pick-ups are between 9:00 - 10:00 am and 5:00 – 6:00 pm. When boarding, please let us know when you would like to pick up your pet so that we can have their belongings all packed up and ready to go.

Food For Your Pet

Owners must bring their pet’s food in a resealable container. We recommend you pack extra food just in case your pet runs out. If your pet does wholly run out, we will provide food at a daily food charge.

Your Pet’s Belongings

Effective 10/12/2022 it is the policy of Park Your Paws not to allow personal belongings other than medications or food to be left with your pet i.e. bedding, leashes, toys, etc. If an owner insists on leaving these items Park Your Paws is in no way liable or responsible for them being lost, stolen, damaged or cleaned.

Your Pet’s Meds

All medication must be brought in the original prescription or manufacturer’s container. It is OK to separate your pet’s meds in a pill organizer for dispensing as long as the original container is included.

Did You Know?

Pets that are boarding may experience some stress and anxiety. The factors that contribute to what we call boarding kennel stress are:

  • Separation anxiety: Being separated from their owners is stressful. Dogs don’t have the same perception of time as we do. As far as they are concerned, you might have left them for good. Studies also suggest that dogs miss their owners when in boarding kennels.

  • Changes to routine: Dogs are creatures of habit and can be become anxious when their routine chances. This is almost unavoidable when boarding, as your dog will experience changes to when they eat, sleep, and exercise.

  • Unfamiliar sounds and smells: Dogs are hyper vigilant to noise and scent, so going into boarding kennels will be an assault to their senses. They will be trying to make sense of where they fit into the new hierarchy of smells. This will play havoc with their sense of who they are and any potential threats they perceive.

  • Unfamiliar people: Whilst most dogs love any human who gives them attention, some dogs are anxious around new people. The person looking after them could change hourly in a kennel, thus ramping up the dog’s stress levels further.

  • Lack of usual exercise: Not burning off enough calories is shown to raise a dog’s stress. If your dog isn’t walked as far as usual or refuses to come out and play in the kennel’s open areas due to fear, then boarding stress can increase.

Anxiety, stress, or fear can cause decreased appetite in some dogs, just like it can in people. Keep in mind that what you think is stressful is different from what your dog may see as stressful, and even small things can produce anxiety and cause them to not want to eat.

AT PYP WE STRIVE TO MAKE YOUR PET FEEL AS COMFORTABLE AS POSSIBLE. WE WILL ALWAYS PRESENT MEALS TO YOUR PET AT FEEDING TIMES. AS A RESULT OF STRESS, HOWEVER, THEY STILL MAY REFUSE TO EAT.
